The Author

Margaret Dove was the daughter of Roy Chadwick CBE, chief designer at A.V. Roe and Co. Ltd. In 2006, she wrote and designed the biography published on this site, originally hosted at homepages.manx.net/mdove/. It was a labour of dedication: a daughter's account of her father's life, career, and legacy in British aviation.

Margaret had firsthand access to family papers, photographs, and personal memories that no outside researcher could match. Her biography draws on these primary sources to tell the story of Roy Chadwick not only as an engineer but as a person. It remains one of the most personal and authoritative accounts of his life.

Bomber Command Museum of Canada

From 1990 to 2008, Margaret served as Honorary President of the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, reflecting her lifelong commitment to preserving the history of Bomber Command and the aircraft her father designed. The museum, located in Nanton, Alberta, maintains a flying Lancaster bomber and honours the crews who served.
